In the charming town of Vall d’Uixó lies a natural wonder: the longest navigable underground river in Europe, stretching over 3,000 meters. This is where you’ll find the Coves de Sant Josep, natural caves of unique beauty with a rich history to tell.
These caves, which feature the longest underground route in Castellón, are perfectly preserved. Thanks to the interior lighting, you’ll be able to admire their rock formations and varied colors. You will see ceilings covered in stalactites, wide galleries, and spaces known as “the Cathedral” or the “Bat Cave.” You’ll also marvel at prehistoric cave paintings, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
-The caves maintain a constant temperature of 20°C (68°F) all year round. We recommend bringing a light jacket and comfortable shoes.
-This excursion includes pickup and transfers from designated meeting points in Valencia to the town where the caves are located, entry to the caves, and an official local guide. Food and drinks are not included.
-The estimated duration of this excursion is approximately 3.5 hours, from pickup to return to the city of Valencia.
-Pickup will take place around 8:00 AM (this may vary by 20–30 minutes depending on the season).
-You will travel approximately 1 kilometer by boat, accompanied by a professional guide-boatman, and walk an additional 250 meters. During this journey, you’ll learn about the origins of the caves and their evolution over time. You’ll also reach an ancient Iberian settlement located above the cave entrance, offering stunning views of the Sierra de Espadán Natural Park.
-We will then enter the impressive Coves de Sant Josep, a hidden treasure deep underground, filled with mysteries yet to be uncovered and remarkable natural beauty.
