Learn about the history and cultivation of bananas at Hacienda La ReKompensa, an estate located in Arucas dedicated to one of the Canary Islands’ main agricultural exports. The tour offers insight into the economic, cultural and landscape importance of banana farming on the island.
The property covers 56,500 m² and includes more than 7,500 banana plants, 150 avocado trees and a variety of other fruit trees. During the guided visit, lasting approximately 45 minutes, you will discover the cultivation methods and specific characteristics of Canary bananas.
The itinerary also includes a visit to a traditional Canarian house dating from 1804, restored in keeping with its original architecture. Inside, you will find the Banana Museum, an interpretation centre dedicated to this crop. It is the first museum of its kind in Gran Canaria and the only one in the archipelago where visitors can see 25 different banana varieties from around the world.
The experience concludes with a tasting included in the price, featuring a selection of banana-based products. There is also time to visit the shop, which offers jams, sweets, banana wine and cosmetic products made from bananas.
