Description
On Mallorca’s eastern coast lies one of the island’s most remarkable underground landmarks: the Drach Caves. Shaped over millions of years by water filtering through limestone rock, these caverns reveal a landscape filled with stalactites, stalagmites and underground lakes.
Located in Porto Cristo, the caves stretch for almost 1,200 metres and reach depths of around 25 metres below ground level. During the visit, you’ll walk through illuminated chambers where rock formations and reflections across the water create an extraordinary atmosphere. Hidden within the caves is Lake Martel, recognised as one of the largest underground lakes in the world.
The experience includes the traditional classical music concert performed on the lake since 1935, accompanied by a light display that highlights the natural shapes of the cavern. You’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy a short boat ride across this underground setting.
The route continues with a stop at a historic pearl factory, regarded as a pioneer in Europe for the production of organic artificial pearls and closely linked to Mallorca’s artisan heritage.
The cool air of the caves, the sound of live music echoing across the water and the changing light inside the cavern create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else on the island.
