Description
On Mallorca’s eastern coast lies one of Europe’s most remarkable underground sites: the Drach Caves. This full-day excursion combines a visit to these famous caverns with free time in Porto Cristo, a peaceful fishing town overlooking the Mediterranean.
Formed over millions of years through the action of water on limestone rock, the caves contain spectacular stalactites, stalagmites and underground lakes that create an extraordinary natural setting. One of the highlights is Lake Martel, recognised as one of the largest underground lakes in the world.
During the visit, you’ll attend the traditional live classical music concert performed on the lake, accompanied by a lighting display that enhances the natural shapes and reflections inside the cavern. The constant temperature within the caves creates a cool and distinctive atmosphere throughout the route.
After the underground visit, you’ll have free time in Porto Cristo, where you can walk along the harbour, relax near the small coves or stop at one of the local cafés and restaurants overlooking the waterfront. The excursion also includes a visit to a historic Mallorcan pearl factory known for producing organic artificial pearls.
The silence of the underground chambers, the reflections across the water and the slower rhythm of Porto Cristo shape a route that reveals a quieter and more atmospheric side of Mallorca’s coastline.
