In the center of the island, César Manrique transformed an old quarry into a unique space to honor the farmers. We will then visit the Monumento al Campesino. This route will take us through the former capital, Teguise, and on to the area of Los Valles. At our next stop, we will enjoy the impressive views of the Valley of the Thousand Palm Trees, the Corona Volcano, and the coastline with its charming villages.
We will pass through the village of Haría and visit the Mirador del Río, an iconic creation designed by Manrique himself, from where we can admire the magnificent views of the Chinijo Archipelago. We will then descend through the area around the Corona Volcano and visit the Jameos del Agua cave, one of the most beautiful places on the island. Afterwards, we will discover another of Manrique’s essential works, where volcanic nature is always present: the Cactus Garden.
Lastly, but no less importantly, we will visit the César Manrique Foundation, which was his home and source of inspiration, perfectly integrated into the surrounding volcanic landscape.
