Description
Travelling along the French Basque coast from Bilbao offers the chance to experience seaside towns shaped by maritime traditions, Atlantic landscapes and a shared cultural heritage between France and the Basque Country. This guided route connects some of the region’s most distinctive destinations in a single day.
The activity starts in the morning from Bilbao alongside a bilingual guide in Spanish and English. The first stop is Bayonne, a historic city located on the banks of the River Nive. During the guided visit, you will walk through its old quarter, traditional squares and the surroundings of the impressive Cathedral of Saint Mary, one of the finest Gothic landmarks in the French Basque Country.
The route then heads towards Biarritz, renowned for its elegant seafront and long-standing connection with surf culture. The visit includes iconic places such as the Rocher de la Vierge and the Grande Plage, along with free time to enjoy lunch and stroll beside the Atlantic Ocean.
In the afternoon, the excursion continues back into the Spanish Basque Country with a stop in Donostia / San Sebastián. There, visitors will walk through the historic centre and admire the famous La Concha Bay, while learning more about the city’s culinary traditions and pintxo culture.
