Description
The Rioja Alavesa region is known for its rolling vineyards, medieval villages and deeply rooted wine culture. Departing from Bilbao, this experience offers a relaxed way to enjoy the landscapes, flavours and traditions that define one of Spain’s most prestigious wine areas.
After a scenic drive through vineyard-covered hills, you will arrive at a medium-sized winery where the different stages of wine production are explained in detail. From vineyard work and fermentation to barrel ageing and bottling, the visit provides a closer understanding of Rioja winemaking traditions.
The experience also includes a guided tasting of D.O.Ca. Rioja wines, allowing you to recognise distinctive aromas and styles associated with the region. Notes of ripe fruit, vanilla, soft spices and toasted oak appear throughout the tasting session.
Later, you will enjoy a traditional Rioja lunch in a local restaurant where seasonal dishes reflect the culinary identity of the area. Local gastronomy and wine culture remain closely connected throughout the region.
The route is accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide and transport in an air-conditioned vehicle, ensuring a comfortable pace during the day.
