Description
Rising above the city, the Alcazaba of Almería stands as one of the largest Muslim fortresses in Spain and a key landmark in its historical landscape. This guided visit offers a structured way to understand its role while walking through its different areas.
The tour leads through the three enclosed sections that make up the complex, where defensive elements such as walls and towers coexist with residential spaces and hydraulic systems, including cisterns and baths that once supported daily life inside the fortress.
Along the way, you will encounter significant points such as the Odalisque Tower, the Mirror Tower and the Wall of the Vela, as well as courtyards and gardens with water features that reflect the organisation of the site.
Several viewpoints reveal the Jairán Walls and the San Cristóbal Hill, before reaching an open panorama of the city and its port from the Baluarte del Saliente.
Walking through its stone structures and elevated spaces offers a broader perspective of Almería, shaped by history, defence and its relationship with the surrounding landscape.
