Description
In the heart of the Alpujarra of Almería, Laujar de Andarax offers a setting where tradition, history and the landscapes of Sierra Nevada come together naturally. This guided tour provides an insight into one of the towns with the richest cultural heritage in the region.
The walk begins in its historic centre, where the streets preserve the layout and atmosphere of past generations. Along the route, you will see landmarks such as the Church of the Incarnation, one of the town’s most representative buildings, and the main square, a focal point of local life. Traditional fountains and water pillars also appear throughout the itinerary, reflecting the historical importance of water in the area.
The visit continues at the Moya Palace House, a 16th-century building that houses the Hispano-Filipino Cultural Centre. Inside, you will find the Pedro Murillo Velarde Interpretation Centre and the Francisco Villaespesa Library, spaces that highlight the historical links between Almería and the Philippines.
The experience then moves into the rural surroundings with a visit to the Cortijo del Cura Winery. Here, you will explore an organic estate where environmentally respectful farming methods are applied, as well as the winery itself and its small museum, which preserves traditional agricultural tools from the Alpujarra region. The visit concludes with a tasting of five wines accompanied by an aperitif, while minors are offered grape must as an alternative.
