Beneath the Paseo de Almería lies a network of tunnels forming part of the largest air raid shelters in Spain, built during the Civil War to protect the local population. This guided visit offers access to a space that remained hidden for decades while preserving its historical significance.
Accompanied by a guide, you will learn about the project led by architect Guillermo Langle, understanding how this underground system was designed and how it functioned during periods of bombardment.
The route takes you through different areas, including food storage sections and a former operating room, descending to approximately 16 metres below ground. These spaces provide insight into how daily life was organised underground in times of emergency.
At the end of the visit, a drink and tapa are offered before returning to the surface, adding a local touch to the experience.
Walking through these narrow, quiet corridors offers a powerful way to connect with a chapter of the city’s past that still resonates today.
