The coastline of Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park reveals landscapes shaped by volcanic origins and a long-standing connection to the sea. This 4x4 route explores some of its most representative locations through an itinerary that brings together nature, heritage, and local tradition.
The tour begins in Carboneras, heading along the coast towards iconic spots such as Playa de los Muertos and the Mesa Roldán Lighthouse, offering wide views over the Mediterranean. Along the way, the route crosses different environments, including volcanic hills, coastal steppe, and areas close to the shoreline.
The journey continues to the former Agua Amarga mineral loading dock, reflecting the area’s industrial past, before reaching villages such as Agua Amarga and Las Negras, where landscapes blend with everyday local life.
Further along, you will visit sites such as Playazo de Rodalquilar, the Casa de los Volcanes, and the Amatista Viewpoint, before arriving at La Isleta del Moro and finishing in Los Escullos, facing the Loma Pelada marine reserve. Here, you will access an exhibition space to learn more about the park’s natural features.
