Walking a section of the Camino de Santiago from San Sebastián offers a direct connection to one of Europe’s most historic pilgrimage routes, set within a coastal landscape shaped by the sea. This guided hike follows Atlantic paths where the Jacobean tradition remains present along the way.
The route begins towards Mount Ulía, following trails marked by the iconic scallop shells that have guided pilgrims for centuries. Along the way, forest paths alternate with open stretches offering views of the Cantabrian Sea, including notable points such as the surroundings of the Faro de la Plata.
The walk continues along cliffs and natural trails until reaching San Pedro, in the municipality of Pasaia, a port area where maritime tradition is still part of daily life. This marks the end of the walking section, offering an accessible introduction to this stage of the route.
Upon arrival, a pintxo and drink are included at a local establishment, providing a moment to rest after the walk. The return to San Sebastián is then arranged by organised transport.
Between the sound of the sea, the texture of the path underfoot and the steady rhythm of walking, the experience leaves a calm impression that reflects the true essence of the Camino.
