Description

Discover one of the most remarkable natural and historical regions of Castilla-La Mancha on this full-day excursion from Madrid. Accompanied by an expert guide throughout the journey, you will visit the spectacular Enchanted City and the historic centre of Cuenca, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The day begins with an early departure from Madrid towards the Serranía de Cuenca. Before reaching the natural site, the tour stops at the famous Ventano del Diablo viewpoint overlooking the Júcar River gorge, an impressive setting where birds of prey such as griffon vultures can often be seen flying above the canyon.

At the Enchanted City, you will enjoy a guided walking route through this extraordinary karst landscape shaped over thousands of years by water, wind and ice erosion. Its striking rock formations, resembling animals, objects and human figures, have made the site internationally recognised for its geological value. The area forms part of the protected Serranía de Cuenca Natural Park.

The journey then continues towards Cuenca through scenic landscapes surrounding the Júcar gorge and the Valdecabras valley. After free time for lunch near the Castle District, the guided visit of the medieval old town begins.

During the walking tour, you will discover landmarks such as the Cathedral of Our Lady of Grace, considered Spain’s first Gothic cathedral, the iconic Hanging Houses, the striking San Pablo Bridge and the narrow streets that preserve the city’s medieval atmosphere. The excursion concludes near the Parador of Cuenca before returning to Madrid.

Between towering rock formations, dramatic viewpoints and centuries-old streets suspended above the river gorges, this route reveals a side of inland Spain filled with history, silence and unforgettable scenery.
