Description

The Costa Brava, located along the Girona coastline, is known for its rugged cliffs, crystal-clear coves and charming seaside towns that still preserve their traditional character. This guided excursion from Barcelona takes you through some of the region’s most iconic locations, blending Mediterranean scenery, medieval heritage and historic fishing villages.

The tour begins at Barcelona Nord Bus Station. After the drive north, the first stop will be Calella de Palafrugell, a coastal village famous for its whitewashed houses, small fishing boats and relaxed atmosphere. You will have free time to walk along the waterfront, enjoy the sea views and take in the authentic maritime setting of this beautiful corner of Catalonia.

You will then continue on foot along part of the historic Cami de Ronda, a coastal path originally used to monitor maritime smuggling routes. The trail follows cliffs and hidden coves before reaching Llafranc, an elegant seaside town where you will have free time for lunch or to relax by the Mediterranean.

The route later heads inland towards Begur, a distinguished town overlooked by the remains of an ancient castle and renowned for its Indian Houses. These striking mansions were built by locals who emigrated to the Americas during the 18th century and later returned with considerable fortunes, leaving behind a unique architectural legacy with Caribbean influences.

In the afternoon, you will visit Peratallada and Pals, regarded as two of the best-preserved medieval villages in Catalonia. Peratallada stands out for its stone streets, fortified structures and impressive moat carved directly into the rock. In Pals, narrow cobbled lanes, Gothic windows and ancient arches lead towards a 12th-century Romanesque tower offering sweeping views over the Costa Brava landscape.

The return journey to Barcelona brings the day to a close after hours surrounded by coastal scenery, medieval architecture and the peaceful rhythm of Catalonia’s historic villages. The scent of the sea breeze and the texture of centuries-old stone streets will stay with you long after the tour ends.
