Description

The Penedès region is home to some of Catalonia’s most celebrated gastronomic traditions. This private full-day experience introduces the world of cava and artisan chocolate through exclusive visits, tastings and a relaxed journey around Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, widely regarded as the capital of Catalan sparkling wine.

The day begins in Barcelona before travelling by train to this historic town surrounded by vineyards. Upon arrival, the peaceful atmosphere and the scent of freshly roasted cocoa immediately set the tone for a sensory experience rooted in local culture and craftsmanship.

After a walk through the streets of Sant Sadurní, you will visit a family-run winery with more than 150 years of history dedicated to producing organic cava. Inside the underground cellars, your guide will explain the traditional methods used to create high-quality sparkling wines following the classic process. The visit concludes with a tasting of several premium cavas served in the winery courtyard.

The experience continues with a four-course lunch at a local restaurant known for its market-driven cuisine and seasonal ingredients. Accompanied by wine, the menu offers a contemporary interpretation of Catalan gastronomy while maintaining strong links to regional culinary traditions.

Later in the afternoon, you will visit a historic chocolate producer with more than 175 years of heritage. During the visit, you will learn about cocoa origins, artisan production techniques and the different chocolate specialities created by local experts. Vineyards, sparkling wine and cocoa aromas create a relaxed atmosphere before returning to Barcelona by train at the end of the day.
