The Penedès region is home to some of Catalonia’s most celebrated gastronomic traditions. This private full-day experience introduces the world of cava and artisan chocolate through exclusive visits, tastings and a relaxed journey around Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, widely regarded as the capital of Catalan sparkling wine.
The day begins in Barcelona before travelling by train to this historic town surrounded by vineyards. Upon arrival, the peaceful atmosphere and the scent of freshly roasted cocoa immediately set the tone for a sensory experience rooted in local culture and craftsmanship.
After a walk through the streets of Sant Sadurní, you will visit a family-run winery with more than 150 years of history dedicated to producing organic cava. Inside the underground cellars, your guide will explain the traditional methods used to create high-quality sparkling wines following the classic process. The visit concludes with a tasting of several premium cavas served in the winery courtyard.
The experience continues with a four-course lunch at a local restaurant known for its market-driven cuisine and seasonal ingredients. Accompanied by wine, the menu offers a contemporary interpretation of Catalan gastronomy while maintaining strong links to regional culinary traditions.
Later in the afternoon, you will visit a historic chocolate producer with more than 175 years of heritage. During the visit, you will learn about cocoa origins, artisan production techniques and the different chocolate specialities created by local experts. Vineyards, sparkling wine and cocoa aromas create a relaxed atmosphere before returning to Barcelona by train at the end of the day.

Strolling through the picturesque town of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia reveals charming narrow streets, quaint squares, and a peaceful atmosphere steeped in Catalan tradition. Surrounded by rolling vineyards, the town offers a perfect blend of history, local culture, and small-town warmth.
With a history spanning more than 150 years this small scale, family run winery focuses on crafting premium quality, organic Cava. Descending into the cellars where the bottles are resting we will explain the history and methods used to create high quality sparkling wine. Upstairs we will have the chance to observe the disgorging and labelling process. We finish this experience in the leafy courtyard where we will take our time to enjoy various vintages while learning more about the different types of Cava.
For lunch we will go to an excellent restaurant in the village where will have a 4 course menu with half a bottle of wine per person included. Since 1999 the restaurant has been offering market-based cuisine that highlights seasonal ingredients at their peak. Their modern and creative dishes blend innovation with tradition, using new techniques to preserve the essence of each ingredient, all with a commitment to quality, humility, and perseverance.
Final stop will be the local chocolate factory with a tradition of 175 years. Here we will enjoy a unique experience for all five senses. Not only will we learn about cocoa, chocolate’s history and culture but also taste their different specialties.
