Description

Barcelona’s historic centre preserves traces of its Roman origins, medieval past and modernist heritage within a remarkably compact area. This guided experience brings together the atmosphere of the Gothic Quarter, the lively character of Las Ramblas and a scenic boat trip along the city’s coastline.

The tour starts at Plaça de Carles Pi i Sunyer, in the heart of Barcelona. From there, you will head towards Plaça Nova, home to sections of the ancient Roman walls and one of the original gateways into the old city. Nearby stands the impressive Barcelona Cathedral, widely recognised for its striking neo-Gothic façade and historical importance.

The route continues through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter until reaching Plaça del Rei, a square surrounded by medieval palaces closely linked to Barcelona’s political and commercial prosperity during the Middle Ages. Afterwards, you will arrive at Plaça Sant Jaume, the city’s political centre for centuries and current location of both the City Hall and the Palau de la Generalitat.

Walking along the picturesque Carrer del Bisbe, you will reach the peaceful Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, one of the most atmospheric corners of the old town. The itinerary then passes through the former Jewish Quarter of El Call, where its medieval layout and narrow alleyways remain remarkably preserved.

The historical section of the tour finishes at Plaça del Pi, overlooked by its Gothic church, before continuing down Las Ramblas towards the waterfront. Along the avenue, you will pass iconic landmarks including La Boqueria Market, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and Plaça Reial. Before reaching the harbour, you will also see Palau Güell, one of Antoni Gaudí’s earliest masterpieces recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The experience concludes aboard a boat operated by Las Golondrinas. During the cruise, you will sail along Barcelona’s harbour and seafront while admiring panoramic views of the city from the Mediterranean. The gentle movement of the boat, the sea breeze and the changing perspective of the skyline create a calm and memorable ending beside the water.
