Beyond Barcelona’s famous landmarks, the historic centre still preserves narrow alleyways, quiet squares and centuries-old buildings filled with local character. This private walking tour offers a slower and more personal perspective on the city’s medieval neighbourhoods and hidden corners.
The experience begins near the OHLA Hotel on Via Laietana before entering the historic streets of El Born and the Gothic Quarter. Throughout the walk, your guide will share stories connected to medieval merchants, artisan guilds, Catalan legends and key moments that shaped Barcelona’s identity.
Along the route, you will pass landmarks such as the Palau de la Música Catalana, one of the city’s greatest modernist masterpieces, as well as historic areas including Sant Pere square and the former merchant district of La Ribera, still lined with Gothic palaces once owned by wealthy trading families.
The tour also includes places such as the Arc de Triomf, the former Born market and the impressive basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. Roman walls, hidden courtyards and medieval streets reveal how different periods of Barcelona’s history continue to coexist within the old city.
The experience concludes at Plaça Sant Felip Neri, one of the Gothic Quarter’s most moving locations. The visible marks left on its walls still reflect the impact of the Spanish Civil War, adding a powerful historical atmosphere to the final moments of the walk.
