Whale and Dolphin Watching in Madeira

Spanish
Free cancellation if canceled at least 48 hours before the start of the experience.

Description

The waters surrounding Madeira are home to one of the Atlantic’s richest cetacean ecosystems, with 28 recorded species representing around 35% of all known species worldwide. This exceptional marine environment makes the island one of Europe’s leading destinations for whale and dolphin watching.

Your experience begins at Funchal Marina, where the crew will provide an educational briefing before departure. During the introduction, you will learn about the species commonly found around Madeira and the responsible observation practices followed throughout the tour.

While navigating along the coast, the boat is supported by land-based observers who help locate cetaceans more efficiently and increase the chances of sightings during each trip. Species frequently spotted in the area include sperm whales, fin whales, Bryde’s whales and pilot whales.

Throughout the excursion, the crew will share information about marine wildlife behaviour and assist passengers in identifying the species encountered during the journey.

Watching dolphins swim alongside the boat or witnessing a whale emerging from the Atlantic creates a moment that stays with you long after leaving Madeira behind.
