Description
Take your first steps into the world of scuba diving in the clear Atlantic waters surrounding Madeira. This experience in Funchal is specially designed for beginners who want to learn how to breathe underwater safely while accompanied by professional instructors.
The activity starts with a short theory session covering the essential principles of diving and the use of the equipment. Afterwards, you will practise basic skills in the swimming pool to build confidence before entering the open sea.
Once ready, a certified PADI instructor will guide you through an open water dive along Madeira’s coastline. Beneath the surface, you may encounter volcanic reefs, colourful fish and part of the marine life that inhabits the island’s waters, reaching a maximum depth of 12 metres.
The sea dive lasts approximately 45 to 50 minutes depending on each participant’s air consumption. All diving equipment is included, and the pace of the activity is adapted to first-time divers.
As the sounds from the shore fade away, the experience becomes quieter and slower, leaving space to simply float, breathe and take in the underwater world surrounding the island.
