Description

This zone is a paradise for underwater photography and includes many different dive sites. Marine life is abundant and divers may find tunas, stingrays, large groupers, moray and barracuda, parrotfish and trumpet fish among others. 

In 2022 the National reserve hosted the European Championship of Underwater photography.

The average depth is 15-20 m.

  • 8:30 am check-in for  2 dives in The National Marine Reserve with a nice surface interval between dives
  • Gear rental and extras are available directly at the shop. 
  • Tanks, Weights are included.  
  • Trip returns around 1 pm

If interested in booking an afternoon 2 PM trip, we go out every day. You will be able to book an afternoon trip on another booking.

We cater for cruise ship passengers as we are conveniently located at Marina Funchal which is just a few minutes away.


What should you know before you go?

Prerequisite : Open Water diver certification or equivalent and 6 minimum dives logged.

If you haven't been diving during the last 12 months you will need to book a refresh program.

Remember your diving certification (Digital or physical) 

Included on booking:

  • 2 boat dive trip at Garajau Marine Reserve;
  • 12 liter AIR bottle filled to 200 bar;
  • Belt and weight system
  • Dive guide (max ratio 6:1);

Not included on booking:

  • rental equipment if needed
  • National Park entrance fees 5€/dive
