Juigalpán Wood. The Barceló Foundation, in conjunction with Pau i Tercer Món and Afodenic, has been working on this project to build 498 houses in the city of Juigalpa in Nicaragua since early in 2005.

The project includes developing the land, building the streets (with asphalt surfacing), public lighting, drinking-water supplies and a wastewater treatment plant, for making the full range of services available to the users.

The housing estate also has a public park and a Multi-Use Centre, to be enjoyed by all the residents.

The project is expected to reach completion in the last quarter of 2006.

Ecuador Homes. Also in conjunction with the housing organisation Viviendas Hogar de Cristo, which is based in Ecuador, the Foundation is cooperating in the building of decent homes made of wood and cane, with direct participation in the building work by the beneficiaries of the project.
